Matt Vancil is the creator of JourneyQuest and the co-developer of Strowlers for Zombie Orpheus Entertainment. In his years as head writer for Dead Gentlemen Productions, he wrote a number of features and short films, including most notably the Demon Hunters and Gamers films.
His debut as a writer/director resulted in the wildly successful cult fantasy comedy The Gamers, which won the 2003 Gen Con Film Festival and has screened at fantasy conventions and festivals worldwide. The feature-length sequel, The Gamers: Dorkness Rising, premiered at Gen Con in 2006 and screened at Comic Con in 2008. The film found DVD distribution through Anthem Pictures later that year, and is available on Amazon and Netflix.
In 2008, Margaret Weis Productions adapted the Demon Hunters movies into a role-playing game in their award-winning Cortex System, which already hosts games based on Battlestar Galactica and Joss Whedon’s Serenity. Matt also created the zombie survival horror show Alive with Star Trek: Enterprise veterans Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens and Epic Level Entertainment.
Matt is a graduate of the American Film Institute with an MFA in Screenwriting.
